Islam News – Speaking in his meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to Tehran on Monday, senior leader advisor to Ali AL Khamenei – Ali Akbar Velayati – reiterated the major resistant role of Syria thwarting international plots hatched by enemies.
Undoubtedly, Syria has a fundamental and decisive role in the resistance front and has paid a heavy price for playing this role, Leader’s adviser stated as Mehr News report read.
“There is no doubt that Syria plays a crucial role in the resistance front and has paid a heavy price for playing that role,” Ali Akbar Velayati said.
In his turn, Syrian foreign minister emphasized the valuable and constructive role of Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the government and people of Syria and added, “Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria have established very vast relations in different cultural social, economic and political arenas,” as Mehr News noted.
The senior Iranian official stressed the need to expand and develop bilateral relations, noting that “The strategic relation between the two countries is strengthening day by day and this process serves interests of the two countries that should be pursued seriously.”
Furthermore, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underscored the “necessity of vigilance and consultation” between Iran and Syria due to the “recent regional developments and condition,” Al Monitor reported.
Tehran has vowed to sustain its backing for Syria’s efforts to protect its sovereignty in the face of regional and extra-regional efforts to destabilize the country, according to Press TV.
“Iran stands alongside the people and government of Syria in the fight against terrorism,” Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a tweet – Al Monitor reported.
At last, The Syrian foreign minister hailed the key role of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei in strengthening and expanding relations between the government and people of Iran and Syria, emphasizing on the fact that the Iranian Leader played a very constructive role in the region.
