IslamNews – A small fire in a civilian aircraft was brought under control by firefighters after a Houthi drone attack on an airport in the south-west of Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh-led coalition in Yemen said on Wednesday.
The coalition called the attack a war crime and said that it will “hold Houthis accountable in accordance with international law.”
Coalition spokesman Turki Al Malki said the attack targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure but did not reveal the type of weapon used in the attack.
Yahya Saree, a Houthi spokesman, claimed responsibility for the attacks and said that they targeted Abha International Airport with four drones because of what they said was the kingdom using the site for military purposes. He also warned the attacks would continue.
France on Tuesday expressed “utmost concern for the security of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia” and condemned the attempted strikes “in the strongest possible terms” as it called for the Houthi escalation against the kingdom to stop. It came after the US State Department condemned Houthi aggression against Saudi Arabia after the attempted attacks on Sunday.
